But Is It Art?, a DIY contemporary art fair, will take place September 22 - 25, 2011, in Washington, DC. The Fair will feature dozens of local emerging artists in an exhibition of contemporary art.

But Is It Art? celebrates contemporary art in the spirit of DIY. The Fair garners support from all corners of the artworld and aims to create an energetic environment of collaboration and discovery. But Is It Art? will include lectures, panel discussions, and tours given by innovative non-authorities in contemporary art.

The DC region is now experiencing a groundswell of creative energy in its DIY artist communities. The objective of But Is It Art? is to fuel this vitality as it coalesces into a vibrant new center for artistic experimentation.
